About the Project
AI4Hope is on a mission to deliver a holistic and culturally sensitive digital ecosystem for palliative care. The project focuses on designing efficient, cost-effective, and replicable digital health interventions that empower patients and caregivers through advanced tools for pain management, care planning, education, and decision support.
Project Objectives
Define evidence-based policies for advanced care planning
AI4Hope develops and implements a Care Planning Decision Support System (CPDSS) tailored to dementia patients and caregivers, ensuring patient-centered care and improved quality of life.
Enhancing well-being and quality of Life
The project provides affordable and accessible digital health solutions, including reminiscence therapy (RT), to address psychosocial needs and reduce depression among patients and caregivers.
Psychological and pain management
By integrating trustworthy AI models for multisensory emotion regulation, AI4Hope enhances the well-being of patients and caregivers through effective pain management.
Psychological and pain management
Digital interventions will be tested and optimized across five culturally diverse pilot sites (Germany, UK, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, and Slovenia).
DEXAI's role in AI4HOPE project
As the Ethics Partner in the AI4Hope consortium, DEXAI ensures that all aspects of the project align with privacy, data protection, and ethical AI standards. Our contributions are critical in building trust and compliance across the project’s digital ecosystem.

DEXAI implements state-of-the-art methodologies to ensure compliance with the GDPR, emphasizing privacy by design and data minimization to limit the use of personal data.
Ethical AI Integration
We ensure that the AI models used in AI4Hope are trustworthy, transparent, and fair, addressing biases in data to provide equitable solutions across diverse cultural settings. Moreover we define a standard to document the decision-making processes of AI systems to maintain clinician and stakeholder trust.
Stakeholder Engagement
DEXAI works closely with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to ensure that the ethical framework aligns with real-world expectations and challenges, creating a feedback loop for continuous improvement.
